Sunset Park - where the name came from

Sunset Park offers stunning skyline views of Manhattan. From the park’s highest point, you can see the Statue of Liberty, vibrant Brooklyn neighborhoods, and the green hills of Staten Island and New Jersey.
Coming from the Industry City area, enter this special park just east of 5th Avenue at 41st Street, which runs from 41st to 44th Street, 5th Avenue to 7th Avenue. Twenty-five acres of grass, recreation and friendly folks, with a state-of-the-art swimming pool, green fields, pedestrian walkways, a sand volleyball court, a recreation center, and a living memorial commemorating September 11th. Very popular with neighbors, the park is the center of one of Brooklyn’s most welcoming neighborhood blogs, BestViewInBrooklyn.
In the summer months, Sunset Park and its pool become home to swimmers and sun worshipers. Designed in a neoclassical/Art Deco style, the pool first opened its waters to the public in 1936.
